Welcome to Zephyrhills, Florida

Before it was Zephyrhills, the City of Pure Water, it was an area of thriving lumber and turpentine industry.  When the Seaboard Coastline Railroad established a depot the town of Abbott was established in April 18, 1888 covering an area just over 380 acres.  In 1909 a Civil War Union veteran purchased an additional 35,000 acres and created the Zephyrhills Colony Company to establish a retirement community for other veterans.  So, the story goes, because of the warm breezes, known as zephyrs, which blew across the rolling hills led to the cities name. (Captain Harold B. Jeffries home is on the historic home walk).  Captain Harold B. Jeffries, referred to as the founder of the city.  In March of 1910, the city was founded (incorporated in 1914).

During the following years, the area saw a huge influx of winter visitors and retirees all looking to enjoy the balmy weather.  That brought several Mobile home parks and RV parks to accommodate these “snowbirds”.

In 1961, “The City of Pure Water” was sprung … so to speak.  Don Robinson established the Zephyrhills Water Corporation and started bottling the good-tasting spring water shipping it all over Florida.

As the area grew into the Twenty-first Century, commercial development, master planned new home communities and subdivision popped up to this now thriving suburb.

Today the city of Zephyrhills is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

From shopping and dining to recreation and healthcare, to a variety of local events, Zephyrhills offers all the neighborly comforts of a small town and all the amenities of larger communities.

The area is home to a variety of activities, restaurants, shopping, medical facilities and unique small-town features. The Downtown area of Zephyrhills is trendy and historic that hosts a variety of fairs and festivals and is known for its all-around fun atmosphere. Whether you are looking for ax throwing or a more relaxed board game cafe, the downtown offers something for everyone in the family. East Pasco is conveniently located with easy commutes to downtown Tampa, Lakeland and near the Florida beaches. It is a suburb of the Tampa Bay Metropolitan Area and is expanding rapidly.
